Most trauma therapists are well-versed in offering support after a trauma, but how can we shift our interventions to offer support while traumatic events are still unfolding?
This is the question Elaine Miller-Karas, Director of Innovation at the Trauma Resource Institute (TRI), has been faced with as she and the TRI work to provide support to the citizens of Ukraine. These people are struggling with suicidal thoughts, panic attacks, losing faith, grief, the fear of being killed, and fear for the well-being of loved others – and the time to help is not when the war is over, but now.
This conversation centers on trauma healing, hope, and the global impact therapists can make without leaving the safety of their homes. You’ll learn more about the essential work of the Trauma Resource Institute, as well as ways you can get involved in supporting the Ukrainian people.
This video is based on Elaine Miller-Karas’ recent blog that you can read here.
